Legal Agreement

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 27, 2026

The Short Version

  • The initial safety reading is free and provided strictly for informational purposes.
  • A safety reading is not a replacement for an on-site inspection by a licensed structural engineer.
  • If you suspect immediate structural failure, evacuate and call emergency services (112) immediately.
  • You retain full ownership of all uploaded images and documents.
  • Consumers retain a standard legal 14-day right to cancel paid digital services.

1. Who these terms apply to

  • These terms are an agreement between you and STRUC-ID Initiative (TU Dortmund University Project / EXIST Grantee), situated at August-Schmidt-Straße 8, Eichlinghofen, 44227, Dortmund, Germany ("STRUC-ID", "we", "us").
  • They apply whenever you use this website or any STRUC-ID service.
  • They apply to both consumers (private individuals) and businesses. Where a rule is different for consumers, we state so explicitly.
  • We do not accept any alternative terms from you unless we agree to them in writing.

2. Our services

2.1 Initial Safety Reading (Free)

You enter an address and optional photographs. Our software produces an automatic initial estimate of a building's structural and seismic condition. Free and requires no account.

2.2 Certified Assessment (Paid)

A detailed analysis utilizing comprehensive asset parameters, reviewed directly by a qualified structural engineer.

2.3 Portfolio Monitoring (Paid)

Continuous monitoring for property managers, public institutions, and insurers under a distinct written contract.

A contract for paid service is executed when you confirm your order and receive a formal order confirmation by email.

3. What a safety reading is NOT

  • An initial safety reading is an automated estimate. It depends strictly on available data quality.
  • It is not a structural survey, engineering certificate, or official building approval.
  • It does not replace on-site physical inspection by a licensed structural engineer.
  • It does not predict earthquake timing or sudden catastrophic structural events.
  • Do not make financial, real estate, repair, or insurance decisions based on the free reading alone.
EMERGENCY DIRECTIVE

If you observe immediate structural hazards such as deep structural cracks, bowing support walls, or sudden shifting, evacuate the premises immediately and contact local emergency services (112).
